Vedas Hashtag is a student technology community at Vedas College in Lalitpur. Devkota co-founded it in July 2022, while he was a student of the college. It organises hackathons, talks and training sessions, among them the Coding Marathon and the talk series Vedas Hashtag Speaks, and it is still active.1

Background

Before the community existed, the college had invited him to assist in its Early Bird sessions. In his own account, that work is what made him want to hold such events regularly and to keep them organised, which led to the founding of the community.

Training sessions

Sessions in which he taught other students at Vedas College. They were training classes, not lectures of the curriculum.

  • June 2022: a workshop on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Git, given together with friends in support of a teacher.
  • July 2022: iExcel 1.0, as a trainer, on building and deploying a portfolio website.
  • June 2023: React for students of the third semester, through Vedas Hashtag.

Later

In November 2025 he spoke at the college as an alumnus, about the degree and about building the community.
